A ton of marijuana seized in Zapopan

The Secretariat of National Defense (Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional –Sedena) reported the seizure of one ton of marijuana, firearms, and several vehicles in three operations carried out by military personnel. In the first seizure, elements of the14th Infantry Battalion of Zapopan (14° batallón de infantería de Zapopan) received an anonymous tip about the possible presence of armed individuals in the locality of Patahua, in the municipality of Villa Guerrero in Zapopan, Jalisco. At arrival the elements seized 211 packets made with a band of cinnamon marijuana, each one weighing five kilograms. Likewise, nine other packets were found with the same band, weighing two kilograms each. Also confiscated was a Ford Excursion vehicle with U.S license plates from the state of Carolina.

While patrolling through the municipal of San Juanito Escobedo the 79th Infantry Battalion (79° batallón de infantería) located a laboratory, chemicals, and other items used for the manufacture of synthetic drugs. Authorities seized 165 bins and bags with caustic soda as well as other chemicals that are used for the manufacture of the drug crystal. On the Tuxpan-Tecalitlan, the 9th Infantry Battalion seized a Mercedes Benz with D.F. license plates and an AK-47.
