08/23/10 – The leader of the National Action Party (Partido Acción Nacional – PAN), José César Nava Vázquez, announced today that he would not be running for re-election in the upcoming PAN elections. He said despite the successes achieved last July 4th on Election Day with the increase in governors, he will not be “blinded by the glimmer of triumph” and considers a new PAN leadership necessary for the 2012 elections. Likewise, he said that he has no intention of pursuing presidential nomination and will only be dedicated to his responsibilities as a legislator at the end of his post as head of the PAN party. In the remainder of his administration he will be in charge of the elections and elections processes for Estado de México, Nayarit, Baja California, and Guerrero.
