08/24/10 – Yesterday evening elements from Mexico’s Navy (Secretaría de Marina-Armada) and the State Agency of Investigation (Agencia Estatal de Investigaciones) rescued six individuals – including a woman – that had been kidnapped and were being held in a safe house in the neighborhood of Valle de Vasconcelos, in the municipal of San Pedro Garza García. They were also able to capture three of the kidnappers and no arms were fired.

The operation took place around 17:00 hours when Navy elements surrounded the zone by cordoning off two blocks of the neighborhood, prohibiting the entry of others, including the inhabitants of that area. According to authorities the operation lasted a little after 21:00 hours. The victims, who had been found in a room on the second floor of the house, were placed in a Suburban van one by one and taken to the installations of the state Attorney General’s Office (La Procuraduría General de la República –PGR) by Navy elements. It was around their tenth day of being held hostage. Three of their suspected kidnappers were also taken away.
