08/18/10 – Three elements of the federal police and one gunman were injured in a gunfight that occurred in Ciudad Juárez. The incident first occurred at around 8:00pm local time on Tuesday as the agents were being chased through the streets. Once arriving at a hotel where other federal police officers were residing, more shots were fired between the two sides. At least two of the gunmen were arrested at the end of the shootout.
Early reports stated that the small group of agents were working undercover in the colony of Pronaf where there has been an increase in extortion and kidnapping cases. It is presumed that their covers were blown, which prompted them to flee the area.
