Israel to aid Baja California police

07/22/11 – Baja California Secretary of Public Security (Secretario de Seguridad Pública en el Estado de Baja California) Daniel de la Rosa announced on Thursday July 21 in a press release that the Israel national police agency will train and assess the Baja California police force as both sides agreed to collaborate on public security issues and police intelligence activities. During a trip to Israel this past week, de la Rosa visited the National Headquarters of the Police in Jerusalem where he met with Director of National Security Lieutenant Colonel Ran Shelef and agreed to share law enforcement experiences and strategies used to combat organized crime. Mexican officials hope Israel’s highly specialized intelligence agencies and enhanced technology will benefit Mexican authorities as they combat organized crime and drug trafficking in their own country.

While in the Middle East, officials of both countries also visited the Israel National Laboratory of Forensic Prints and the National Laboratory of Narcotics. De la Rosa kept Baja California Governor José Guadalupe Osuna Millán informed of their schedules and results, noting that the delegation and visit has left “a good impression of Baja California in Israel.”
