The objective of this new airport security program in the Mexico City airport is to ensure the safety of those who use the airport terminals and surrounding areas. A primary goal is to deter criminal groups from operating in airport areas. Criminal groups target travelers and commit robberies, sometimes with more unfortunate results then theft. It is seen as the responsability of airport security authorities to ensure the safety of travelers.
