CNDH Challenges Before the Supreme Court new ‘Ley Organica’ of the PGR

The national ombudsman, Jose Luis Soberanes Fernández went before the Supreme Court of the Nation (SCJN) to question the constitutionality of  a new  law from the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).

The rule, he said, prevents the National Commission on Human Rights (NCHR), access to information and determines the delivery of data that is requested. According to Fernández the law limits the amount of evidence availible  the NCHR needs to carry its function and in doing so nullifies a nonjudicial protection of human rights in the Constitution.
