The federal policein Ciudad Juárez has tripled its force, resulting in a decrease in cartel related violence and death in the area. The secretary of public security, Genaro García Luna, stated that the fight against cartels and drug trafficking by Mexicans not only benefits them ,but several other countries as well. Thus far, the Calderon administration has seized more than 200 tons of marijuana, 77 tons of cocaine, 323 million dollars, and 142 million pesos.
