Two U.S. citizens were detained by Mexican authorities with more than 15 kilos of Crystal Meth

Two U.S citizens were detained by the Federal Police (Policía Federal) in San Luis Potosí with 15 kilograms (33 lb) of the drug known as “Crystal” in their possession. A press release by the federal Secretariat of Public Security (Secretaría de Seguridad Pública) reported that police officers noticed their vehicle at a turnabout on the highway 57 México Piedras Negras when there lights would not work. The police officers then marked the white Ford Pick-Up they were in to stop.

While performing a visual inspection the officers observed that the vehicles exhaust system had undergone modifications; the catalytic converter showed recent mounting screws and supported a hidden compartment in its interior, which exhibited a granular transparent solid substance.

After being taken to the Federal Police installations in San Luis Potosí the police officers removed the catalytic converter and extracted the substance that turned out to be Crystal, in front of an agent from the Federal Public Prosecutors (Ministerio Público de la Federación). The detainees, Daissy Morales Aguirre and David Morales Reyes, where given over to the Public Prosecutors.
