The number of women killed in Juarez this year already surpassed last years’ numbers

08/19/10 – The Attorney General of the State of (Procuraduría General de Justicia del Estado – PGJE) recently reported an increase in homicide cases related to women in Ciudad Juárez. According to the PGJE, 90% of the killings are related to organized crime.

In 2008, the number of women killed in Ciudad Juárez was 87; in the 2009, the number doubled to 164. As of Wednesday, 169 women have been killed so far in 2010. There have been a total of 846 women killed since 1993, meaning that the last three years have amounted for nearly 50% of all the homicides.

  1. i’m just reading this and this kills me my mom was one of them she got shot 8-18-10 and she left behond 7 kids and its sad cause we didnt find out till maybe like 3 weeks to a month after it happened and shes missed dearly but wats going on today shouldnt happen cause now its like a family has been torn apart and y because violence is the answer to some people and wat happen they took my mom
