The deputy director of the Chapala police force detained after criminal escapes

11/17/10 – Municipal police officers from Chapala, Jalisco, detained the deputy director (subdirector) of their operations unit, Felipe Gómez Romero, after he let Jerónimo Luna, a presumed member of organized crime, escape. Luna had been detained last night after firing his pistol in the air several times while on board a Ford Fusion. After Luna was recaptured he confessed to knowing the location of a gravesite. Two bodies have already been found at the site and authorities are looking for a third. The gravesite was found in the neighborhood of San Antonio Tlayacapan. Luna has also confessed to the killings.
