Special Event: Book Launch, “Building Resilient Communities in Mexico: Civic Response to Crime and Violence”

The University of San Diego’s Justice in Mexico Project and the Woodrow Wilson Center’s Mexico Institute are pleased to invite you to the launch of the book, “Building Resilient Communities in Mexico: Civic Responses to Crime and Violence,” a new publication produced jointly by the Justice in Mexico Project and the Mexico Institute. The book is now available in print and online.

In light of recent concerns about the desperate measures taken by vigilantes and armed self defense groups in rural Mexico, this new book provides a timely effort to evaluate the constructive responses of Mexican society in the face of years of crime and violence, bringing together experts from the United States and Mexico to consider a variety of related issues. The event will feature presentations by several of the book’s contributing authors.

Click here to access the book online.

The presentation will be on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 2:30-4:00pm in the Peace and Justice Theater at the Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego. The event is free and open to the public. After the presentation, we invite you to a small reception at USD’s Garden of the Sea.
