San Luis Potosí begins process of training personnel for justice reform implementation

The state of San Luis Potosí has begun training justice personnel for the implementation of federal justice reforms passed by the nation’s congress in March of last year and signed into law the following June. The training process – which will include all stages of the judicial process, from investigation to execution of sentences – is expected to conclude October 31 of this year. The centerpieces of the reforms are bestowing increased investigative responsibilities on police forces and implementing oral trials. The reforms have significant resource implications for states, which aside from training personnel at every stage of the justice system, must also overhaul justice facilities in order to accommodate the changes.

According to the reforms, states have until 2016 to fully implement the reforms.
