08/23/10 – Police officers with Chihuahua’s Federal Police force (Policía Federal) intercepted two individuals who were attempting to execute a man. At being discovered the individuals fired at the agents. The event occurred in the community of Senderos when federal police officers located two suspicious individuals in a black Honda Civic, with the license plate 995SDR7, in between Fundadores de América Street and Manuel Talamás Camandari Street with the engine running.

Mobile and fixed vigilance by federal police officers at the site allowed them to detect that the two individuals in the Honda Civic were following the movement of another vehicle and moments after they observed that one of the suspects in the Honda had aimed a weapon at the driver of the other vehicle. Upon realizing the presence of the authorities the suspects attempted to flee shooting repeatedly at the officers who repelled the aggression, initiating a pursuit. Both suspects were apprehended as they attempted to enter a building through the roof in an attempt to evade the officers.

The suspects in question are 30-year-old Tobías Álvarez, “el Tobi”, and 40-year-old Jaime Gaytán Estrada. In their possession was an AK-47, a .45 caliber pistol, cartridges for both guns, and around 2 kilos of a marijuana type substance. According to the Federal Police Intelligence Center (Centro de Inteligencia de la Policía Federal) the suspects were identified as members of the criminal group “Los Aztecas.”
