12/10/10 – This Monday the local Congress of Oaxaca voted Manuel Jesús López López as the new State Attorney General (Procurador General de Justicia del estado) after obtaining a majority vote from a list of candidates proposed by Governor Gabino Cué Monteagudo. López will be taking the place of María de la Luz Candelaria Chiñas. Other candidates included Guadalupe Figueroa Robledo and Armando Doroteo García, all of whom had to present their work projects before the local plenary session. In his presentation López outlined four general topics which he would like to work on: functional and structural modernization of the procurement, a comprehensive fight against crime; the fight against impunity, corruption and lack of transparency, and partnerships with local communities to counter crime.
