08/19/10 – According to information released by the Secretary of National Defense (Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional – SEDENA), close to 180,000 illegal firearms have been seized in the last three and a half years. About 97,000 of those weapons were handguns while the remaining were mostly made up of semi-automatic and fully automatic rifles.
