More than $17 million pesos seized in Monterrey

08/11/10 – Forces from the 7th Military Zone entered a house in Monterrey, Nuevo León and seized more than $17 million pesos (roughly $1.3 million USD) in cash along with weapons and jewelery. Seven people inside the house, located within the municipality of Guadalupe in Monterrey, were also arrested.

The names of those arrested are Daniel “el Chato Maraña” López, Ricardo Dorantes “el Pollo” Lara, Brenda Berenice “La Brenda” Silva, Jesica Alejandra “Yesica” Acaltara, Ricardo López “el Rikin” Reyna, Juan Carlos Carmona, José Puente, and Ryan Smith Flores.

Authorities first found the home when an armed individual ran inside in an attempt to escape while being pursued. When the agents entered the residence they found seven other people handling the cash. Three cars, two rifles, two handguns, seven ammo clips, six cell phones, a variety of jewelry, and three laptops were seized along with 200 kilograms of marijuana and 1.7 kilograms of cocaine.
