Mexico City’s judicial police may face financial investigations

An advisory group is proposing a financial investigation of the judicial police in Mexico City (DF) to determine whether they have enriched themselves through illicit means. The project would be carried out by academics in order to provide transparency, according to Isabel Miranda de Wallace, president of an organization called “Stop the Kidnapping.” De Wallace is also a member of the Advisory Group for the Application of the New Model of Investigative Police. The idea is to provide a form for agents to fill out describing their economic situation and including information on where they live and where they spend most of their time. The information would then be corroborated by surprise visits.
