Leader of La Línea, enforcement gang for Juárez Cartel, is in custody

This past Saturday, Luis Carlos Vázquez Barragán, El 20, was captured and arrested by elements of the Federal Police (Policía Federal – PF) in Chihuahua. Luis Barragán was a leader in the crime organization La Línea that serves as an enforcement gang for the Juárez Cartel (Cártel de Juárez). He took direct orders from the head of the Juárez Cartel, Vincente Carrillo Fuentes.

Presumably in response to the capture, members of La Línea ambushed several agents of the Federal Police in Chihuahua. The attack resulted in three agents being injured.

In Chihuahua, Luis Barragán was responsible for controlling seven municipalities: Palomas, Casas Grandes, Namiquipa, Madera, Ascensión, Gómez Farías, and Bachiniva. He oversaw the smuggling of large shipments of drugs from Ciudad Juárez into the United States; he planned and ordered assassinations authorized by Vincente Fuentes. At the time of Barragán’s capture, weapons and drugs were seized from him.
