JMP Releases News Monitor Vol. 8, No. 4 (Apr-Jul)

NMAPR-JUL

We are pleased to announce the release of our newly redesigned Justice in Mexico News Monitor, with a special issue reviewing developments over the course of the calendar year. The release of this special edition coincides with a new phase for Justice in Mexico as this research initiative on rule of law, security, and human rights issues becomes a stand alone program coordinated by David Shirk and Octavio Rodriguez in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of San Diego.

This month’s News Monitor contains a summary of the most relevant occurrences in the first half of the year in each of our research areas: Crime and Violence; Transparency and Accountability; Justice System Reform; and Human Rights and Civil Society. This report was compiled by Cory Molzahn, Kimberly Heinle, Octavio Rodriguez, and David Shirk, with the research assistance and direct written contributions of Tiana Carriedo, Katharine Petrich, Felicia Gomez, and Nathalie Gomez.

As always, remember that our monthly news monitors, our latest drug violence maps, our special reports, and other publications are available on the project’s website at www.justiceinmexico.org, as well as our databases of crime and other indicators at the Data Portal. You can view regular updates on rule of law and security issues in Mexico on our News Blog. You can also follow us on Twitter @JusticeinMexico and Facebook at Justice in Mexico.
