Francisco Javier Gómez Meza, a maximum-security prison director, is arrested and accused of having ties to drug trafficking organizations

10/29/10 – Last night the federal Secretariat of Public Security (Secretaría de Seguridad Pública federal) confirmed the detention of Francisco Javier Gómez Meza, the director of the maximum-security prison number 2 in Puente Grande, Jalisco, under accusations linking him to drug trafficking organizations. Mexican Interpol agents captured the former federal official in the capital’s airport in compliance with the arrest warrant issued.  Up until yesterday Gómez continued to be the prison director.
