Esteban Luna Luna, alias El Chachis, “Los Zetas” leader in Monterrey captured

Yesterday the Mexican Army captured Esteban Luna Luna, alias El Chachis, the leader of Los Zetas in Monterrey, Nuevo León. Luna is tied to the disappearance of soldiers from the Mexican Army, attacks against military forces, and to the March 19th attack against the Institute of Technology and Higher Education of Monterrey (Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey—ITESM).

With him, four others where detained: one woman and three bodyguards. Authorities seized twelve rifles, nine handguns, one grenade, three vehicles, fifty kilos of marijuana, forty-three gun chambers, and a hundred forty-eight cartridges of various calibers. Luna took control of the criminal organization after his brother Héctor Raúl Luna, alias El Tory, was detained in June of this year.
