Billboard advertisements appeared in Michoacán in support of the drug cartel La Familia Michoacana

Today, billboard advertisements appeared throughout the capital city of Morelia proclaiming that the people of the state of Michoacán support the drug cartel La Familia Michoacana. Authorities believe that the advertisements are a form of retaliation after federal authorities posted their own set of advertisements last week. They offered monetary compensation for any information leading to the arrest of high-ranking personnel in the drug cartel.

The advertisements posted last Thursday offered 2 million pesos for information that led to the arrest of either Jesús Méndez “el Chango” Vargas, Nasario “el Chayo” Moreno, El Chayo, Servando “la Tuta” Gómez, and Dionisio Loya “el Tío” Plancarte. Unknown individuals took down the advertisement a few hours after being put up. Similarly, the billboards posted today were also taken down.
