42 judges and magistrates in México have been sanctioned since 2007

08/11/10 – The Minister President of the Supreme Court’s Office and Chairman of the Judiciary, William I. Ortiz Mayagoitia, announced that 42 judges and magistrates have been sanctioned since 2007. The 42 officials were reported as corrupt and participants in irregular activities within their administrations.

Mayagoitia stated that careful investigations are conducted before dismissing an official. He clarified that “[officials] are punished based on objective data rather than general accusations.” Mayagoitia also warned that any sort of corruption or infiltration of ranks done by criminal organizations will continue to not be tolerated.
