20 Federal Police Held Over Land Dispute

Thanks to the intervention of a local priest, residents of Angahuan released elements of the Federal Police (PF) which were being held since yesterday afternoon.

However, a resident of San Juan Nuevo is still being held by the community demanding the return of over 5 hectares of land.

The release of the federal agents came after it was agreed that no charges would be pressed against any of the people involved.

They also pledged to respect the territorial nature of the communal authorities during operations in the area and provide an ambulance to meet the needs of the community

Community members of Angahuan municipality of Uruapan, held 20 Federal Preventative Police, as well as a resident of the neighboring municipality of San Juan Nuevo, to demand agrarian authorities to resolve a conflict in which there are 5 thousand hectares in dispute.
