Yesterday at midday, a group of armed men fired at the house of the National Action Party (Partido Acción Nacional—PAN) mayor candidate for Veracruz, Alejandro Torruco Vera. At least six shots were heard, three of which hit a car stationed outside of his house. According to witnesses the group of armed men were traveling in a white vehicle. Vera won the virtual elections this Monday by 6,322 votes, according to the Preliminary Electoral Results Program (Programa de Resultados Electorales Preliminares). He said that he has not received any threats and has not had any problems with anyone, however, he has not discarded that the attack may be tied to the election.
